Whether you’ve already taken the first steps in your film and TV career or want to know where to start, Inside Film is a day you won’t want to miss! For young people aged 25 and under.

With some of the most exciting young filmmakers in the South West, studio and development opportunities in the region and the chance to hear from the cast and crew from one of the biggest shows of the last few years, Inside Film is going to be a day to get inspired, connected and develop your career in film and TV.

Here's the full line-up for the day:

SCENE– Films made by new South West based filmmakers - Cinema 1, 12:30 – 13:30

A showcase of short films made by new and emerging filmmakers between the ages of 16-25 from across the South West. Featuring a range of genres and styles from animation to documentary and films made independently, whilst in education or as commissions.

BFI NETWORK South West Shorts – Cinema 1, 14:00-15:00

A selection of BFI NETWORK Shortsmade by filmmakers based in the South West. Hosted by BFI Network Producer Jess Wheeler

Business of Film - Waterside 3, 15:30-16:30

A panel discussion to highlight current training and entry-level opportunities to become professional crew members, with a focus on Bristol/South West opportunities.Hear from a panel of trainees and new and emerging crew who can share their experiences and insight.

Spotlight on Tobi Kyeremateng - Waterside 3, 17:15-18:00

Q&A session with Tobi Kyeremateng. Tobi is a film and TV producer from South London. Working across scripted and unscripted, she has produced work internationally for BBC, British Vogue, Channel 4, i-D, Netflix, NOWNESS, Sky Arts, and more. In 2020 she was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and in 2021 was selected as a recipient of the inaugural Netflix Documentary Talent Fund. In 2022, Tobi was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in Arts & Culture and was selected for the 2022 BAFTA Elevate cohort for producers.

Action Xtreme Presents: Action Filmmaking with special guests, followed by networking - Waterside 3, 18:00-19:45

This session is brought to you in partnership with Action Xtreme, the first major action studio in the UK, with a focus on grassroots talent growth, development and training, and a remit to develop franchisable film, TV and online action content.

This activity is part of the UK-wide BFI Film Academy programme and is supported using funds from the National Lottery. BFI Film Academy offers opportunities for 16 – 25 year olds, anywhere in the UK, to get to know more about film and how to make a career in the screen industries. A range of accessible courses, events, workshops, talks and networking are available for those wanting to break into film or find out more about what is on offer. Watershed runs BFI Film Academy South West, open to those across the region from Cornwall to Gloucestershire to Hampshire.
