Deaf Conversations About Cinema: Saltburn
Please note: This event took place in Oct 2023
Join us at the 17:50 BFI London Film Festival screening of Saltburn on Wed 11 Oct which will feature Descriptive Subtitles and an introduction from a guest speaker.
This will be followed at 20:00 by a post screening discussion in the Café & Bar with fellow audience members and Bristolian film critic Nathan Hardie. The evening will be hosted by Deaf artist, performer and filmmaker David Ellington and will feature BSL interpretation throughout.
Academy Award® winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) brings us a beautifully wicked tale of privilege and desire.
Struggling to fit in at Oxford University, Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten.
International rising star Jacob Elordi shines as the dashing, young aristocrat while Barry Keoghan gives a remarkable career-best performance as Oliver. Alongside them are Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant and Carey Mulligan – each inhabiting their roles with gusto – and an impressive array of new British talent that includes Alison Oliver and Archie Madekwe.
