Three refugees from the 1948 dispossession of Palestine try to cross into oil-rich Kuwait looking for work.

Keeping themselves hidden in the back of a truck, their journey is a treacherous one, but, having already lost their country, these men feel they have nothing left to lose.

The Dupes is a classic of Arab cinema, and adaptation of Palestinian exile Ghassan Kanafani’s novella Men in the Sun.

Restored by The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and Cineteca di Bologna in collaboration with the National Film Organization and the family of Tewfik Saleh. Funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation.
