Brendan Arnold is a Creative Technologist at Policy Lab, a cross-government policy innovation team who are charged with looking at how policy making might be done in five years time by working on real problems. This role is the first of its kind in central government.

This talk presents his experience over his last two years working on knotty policy problems, using design thinking to bridge technical knowhow, making and policymaking. It also delves into how Policy Lab makes space for imagination and play in a line of work that can impact the lives of citizens.

The lunchtime talks are partly supported by MyWorld, a project led by the University of Bristol to support creative industries in the region. Watershed is supported by Arts Council England.

The Lunchtime talks take place in the Pervasive Media Studio Event Space. To access the Studio, please go to the Main Watershed Box Office entrance and go upstairs to the Café Bar. Walk across the cafe bar, turn right and walk towards the double doors. Go through into the corridor and walk all the way down until you reach the Studio. A member of staff will sign you in, and check your ticket, if you have booked.
