Radu Jude follows up his Golden Bear-winning Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn with this darkly funny satire about workplace culture and oppression.
It follows Angela (Illinca Manolache), a horribly overworked production assistant working on a safety at work video while, on her own time, she hones a quippy online brand featuring her alter ego, a self-pronounced friend of misogynistic media personality Andrew Tate (who is currently facing human trafficking and other charges in Romania). Meanwhile, her existence is contrasted with another Angela, a taxi-driver from a 1981 movie.
Unashamedly oddball, Jude touches on labour, exploitation, death, and the new gig economy in a film that is radically insightful entertainment.
