In this talk, filmmaker and creative learning facillitator George Magner aims to establish the principles of an ethical framework of co-authorship throughout the creation of Our Lives Inside.
Our Lives Inside is a series of research-led audiovisual projects telling the stories of imprisoned people through their own experience.
The prison community exists within substantial firewalls: practical, technological, legal and conceptual. Negotiating these firewalls to work presents considerable creative, methodological and ethical challenges.
Building on award-winning research with prisoners across the UK, Our Lives Inside aims to develop a “co-authorship” model that will enable imprisoned participants to contribute directly to the next generation of projects.
