Shonkbots - Family Creative Tech Workshop

Workshop

Thu 20 Feb 11:30

Pervasive Media Studio, Watershed

This February half-term, we're excited to invite young people aged 8-14 and their guardians to a special workshop with Dr. Libby Miller. The workshop will complement our showing of The Wild Robot, which you can enjoy with a 20% discount during this school break.

The workshop will focus on making shonky, physical, funny prototypes, and thinking about connection. A playful, interactive exploration of robotics made with everyday items, you'll get to explore creative technology, and build a Shonkbot. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult but adults do not need to book in. Shonkbot is a fun, low-cost educational/drawing robot made entirely from bits you can buy.

About Dr. Libby Miller

Dr. Libby Miller spent 14 years at the BBC working in their Research and Development and co-leading a small team. She enjoys creating intentionally imperfect robots and reflecting on themes of connection, embodiment, and meaning.

Our family workshops are made possible with our partners in the Pervasive Media Studio, which are the University of Bristol and UWE Bristol.
