His photos shocked the world. His negatives were lost for decades. Ernest Cole: Lost and Found is a gripping portrait of an artist who risked everything to reveal the truth...

South African photographer Ernest Cole was the first to expose the horrors of apartheid to a world audience. His book House of Bondage, published in 1967 when he was only 27 years old, led him into exile in NYC and Europe for the rest of his life, never to find his bearings.

Featuring Cole’s striking images and narration by Actor LaKeith Stanfield, in Ernest Cole: Lost and Found, award-winning director Raoul Peck (Oscar®-nominated I Am Not Your Negro) brings the hidden history of South Africa’s apartheid era to life through the lens of the trailblazing photographer.

The screening on Wed 12 March is presented in partnership with Bristol Doc Club, who will be introducing the film and hosting an informal chat in the cinema after the screening – anyone is welcome to join.
