In this Lunchtime Talk we will hear from Dr. Tomas Rawlings, a gaming industry expert, who will explore the current state of the sector and the opportunities that may arise from the losses we are witnessing off the back of the COVID pandemic.

The video games industry is a huge global market, but one that goes through repeated cycles of rapid growth followed by sudden downturns. After a recent boom, the industry is now facing one of its most challenging periods, with widespread job losses, cancelled projects, and studio closures. However, within this uncertainty, new opportunities can emerge—particularly for those looking to enter the industry. One potential route is starting a games studio of your own. In this talk Dr. Tomas Rawlings will break down the current landscape and explore the possibilities that could arise from these changes.
