Shifting Sands portrays the changes that have swept across the Arabian peninsula since the discovery of oil. Camel racing has become a hi-tech sport and the region's animals now live alongside a very modern society, but technology is also being used to protect nature. The programme reveals how dugongs are fitted with satellite transmitters and hunting falcons chase down radio-controlled planes, and follows the construction of the world's first carbon-neutral city.
