Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam, celebrated South African filmmaker Khalo Matabane's latest film takes an unflinching look at Nelson Mandela, one of the most iconic leaders of our time. In a personal odyssey encompassing an imaginary letter to Mandela and conversations with politicians, activist, intellectuals and artists - including the Dalai Lama, Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell, Albie Sachs and Ariel Dorfman - Matabane questions the meaning of freedom, reconciliation and forgiveness, and challenges Mandela's legacy in today's world of conflict and inequality. Thought-provoking and reflective, this is a moving film which frames Mandela from a fresh and deeply personal perspective.
