Celebrate Afrika Eye 2014's opening with the extraordinary genius of Pinise Saul, the queen of South African jazz, in the Café/Bar. Pinise sang with the late great South African musician Dudu Pakwana and combines her rural Xhosa roots with the influence of the vibrant township dance music scene of the 50s and 60s. Together with her band she embodies the feel of both South African struggle and victory - a perfect fit for the start of a festival celebrating democracy.
Entry to the party is free, but ticket holders to the opening film Hear Me Move (at 20:00) have priority entry!
