This coming of age comedy follows 18-year-old Yuki who, having failed his university entrance exams, abruptly decides to leave the big city behind and move to the country to embark on a one-year forestry trainee apprenticeship. Swayed in motive, not by a passion for all things lumberjack but rather the attractive girl on the scheme’s brochure, Yuki winds up in a small rural village deep in the mountains. Reality bites however when cut off from such luxuries as convenience stores and mobile phones he begins to find out that life hauling lumber is a whole lot tougher than he’d previously imagined.

Followed by a Q&A with director Shinobu Yaguchi
