Arguably the best and most popular comedy ever made, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis star in Billy Wilder’s classic screwball tale of cross-dressing Jazz musicians, gangsters, and a credulous blonde.
When slick saxophone player Joe (Tony Curtis) and his long suffering buddy Jerry (Jack Lemmon) are forced to go on the run after witnessing the Valentine's Day gangland massacre, they find themselves pursued by gangsters led by the ruthless Spats Colombo. Forced to improvise a quick plan of escape, they decide to disguise themselves as women and the duo join Sweet Sue’s all-girl jazz band on the next train bound for sunny Florida. As Joe falls for Sugar Kane (Monroe), the band's sexy lead singer, and tries to impress her with stories of wealth and fortune, Jerry finds himself pursued enthusiastically by real a millionaire as things begin to heat up and the mobsters close in.
An absolute comedy gem over half a century on from its original release and including brilliant performances, wonderful comic timing and the greatest pay-off line ever written; this old girl is still red hot!
