Discover an alternative Halloween spirit with this tense and touching story of friendship, loneliness and vampirism in Stockholm. Set against the darkness of Swedish nights and with a deeply unsettling soundscape, this final episode in the LOVE is Like… Late Nights is the perfect way to welcome in the most haunting night of the year.
Fans of Scandi-drama and moody vampire thrillers will find themselves gripped by Tomas Alfredson's (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) edgy, atmospheric tale set in the Stockholm suburbs, where blood is hard to hide against the pure white winter snow. Oskar, a quiet, lonely, 12-year old boy who fantasises about standing up to the bullies at school, befriends the enigmatic Eli, a young girl with a secret, who has just moved in next door. As the pair grow closer, brought together by mutual loneliness, more of the darker side of Eli's nature begins to reveal itself, made all the more mysterious by the midnight activities of the man she lives with in their sparse apartment.
What better way to welcome in All Hallow’s Eve with a late night screening of this modern masterpiece of cinematic horror.
Prepare to be scared (or at least thoroughly unsettled) by our mood-altering soundscape, as we take over the Café/Bar from 22:00 (before the film screening at 23:00) and show you visions of Scandinavia as presented by the magical Limbic Cinema. Don't forget to come dressed in your best knitwear - there will be a prize for the best jumper!
