This is the story of Rohani – an 80 year-old hunter who hobbles around on land but who dives like a fish on a single breath, descending to great depths for several minutes to stalk his prey like a true underwater predator. From a ramshackle hut on the Sulawesi sea, this yoda-like old man tells his story, with the most beautiful images of the Bajau ever captured and dazzling re-enactments of his underwater adventures.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Mark Sharman, underwater camera operator on the film who will be in conversation with Hannah Mulvaney from Wildscreen.
Nominated for the Cinematography Award, Editing Award, Music Award, People and Nature Award and Sound Award / United Kingdom / 48 mins / James Reed for Underdog Films in association with Fantomline Pictures, James Morgan Films & Vistaar Productions
The screening will be preceded by the showing of In Between - a hauntingly beautiful and poetic short film about a remote corner of the world where a living relic from a prehistoric age still exists. A magnificent creature that once roamed northern plains alongside mammoths and sabertooth cats, enduring where others vanished.
