part of BBC See Hear Weekend 2016

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Nov 2016

Back in 1981 the first ever episode of BBC See Hear was groundbreaking at the time – presented in sign language for a Deaf audience.

Through a selection of archive clips we examine episode one of this trailblazing programme and meet some of the people involved to discover how it came to life. We’ll also be looking under the bonnet of a more recent episode of See Hear, finding out and comparing how today's features such as the news round up are filmed, and learning about how the team go out on location to shoot their stories. There'll also be a chance to meet some of the contributors from See Hear’s new Hidden Nation strand who'll be discussing the work which went into making these 15 mini documentaries.

Join us to learn more about the fascinating 35 year evolution of the first, and longest running, Deaf programme in the world.
