From Deaf Honeymooners to Deaf Zombies... via Bristol's Deaf Communities and Russia's famous theatre for the Deaf. In this selection of new short films, experience on the big screen four very different stories featuring Deaf characters and sign language at their heart.

Lost Spaces

The premiere of Bristol filmmaker and Watershed Agent for Change David Ellington’s documentary, about the closure of Bristol Deaf Club and the effect it had on the local deaf community.
Dvoe
Dir: Mikhail Bogin, Latvia, 1965, 37min
A little known film which features a love story between a Deaf woman and a hearing man, set against the backdrop of Russia’s famous Theatre for the Deaf. With an introduction by Dr Claire Shaw - Lecturer in Modern Languages at the University of Bristol.
These screenings will be subtitled and feature sign language. The introductions will include live speech to text transcription and a sign language interpreter. All of our cinema auditoria are fitted with induction loop systems.
