part of Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Oct 2016

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

This week Studio resident Simon Johnson will take us through a potted history of his work as a game designer, specialising in enabling people to play in real, social spaces. He was Founder and Director of igfest, Bristol’s festival of outdoor play and a Director at Slingshot. In this Lunchtime Talk, Simon will give an overview of some games he has been developing over the past year, including The Black Maze: a bio-activate horror maze and Qubit: a game of chance played inside a quantum computer.

Simon has recently founded a new games company: Free Ice Cream, dedicated to making complex subjects playable.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk
