Join legendary music hall performer, comedian and actor Roy Hudd as he discusses his extensive contribution to comedy with BBC Radio 3’s Matthew Sweet.
With over 50 years of showbiz behind him, over the course of his remarkable career Roy Hudd has tackled everything from stand up comedy, pantomime, music hall, farce, film, musicals and the theatre. On TV he’s been involved with soaps, sitcoms, dramas and variety whilst on radio, for twenty six years, he led a show that won every possible award, both at home and abroad - The News Huddlines. An authority on the history of music hall entertainment – for whom he is President of The British Music Hall Society – this all-round national treasure celebrated his 80th birthday this year and is still going strong.
From The Hudd Lines (1975-2001) and his love of the great British 30’s comedian Max Miller, to his passion for Jacques Tati and Charlie Chaplin, don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear Roy in conversation. This event also features a complete screening of the practically unknown and hugely underrated silent comedy The Maladjusted Busker (1968) starring Roy Hudd.
