Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.
Prague-based artist duo Mária Júdová and Andrej Boleslavsky have been investigating the creative potential of technology for over a decade. Their work combines the exploration of technologically informed dance practices with participatory performances, body movement, and time and space.
During this Lunchtime Talk, Maria and Andrej will be presenting 'DUST', a multidisciplinary project that aims to transform the way people see and experience contemporary dance through an immersive Virtual Reality experience and an interactive website. They will also talk about the digital potential of dance, the inspiring partnerships between performing arts and new media, and VR as an art form, and as a medium for creating new and innovative narratives. After the talk, the audience will have the opportunity to try out their new immersive VR experience.
DUST is produced by Carmen Salas, and supported by Arts Council England and Rambert Dance Company.
The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk
