Get swept away from the Bristol city centre and onto the coarse, untamed wilds of the Norfolk coast in this gorgeous VR art experience about presence, nature, and the very personal relationships we have with our devices.
Using gorgeous timelapse and an evocative soundscape of voices, we are asked to question how our urge to 'be connected' affects our relationship with nature and the sublime.
Director Dorothea Gibbs' rich aesthetic is underpinned by her goal to plunge participants into a genuine contemplation of how our devices impact our experience of the natural world (she recounts how often the need to record the experience of 'enjoying' nature often takes over the peaceful enjoyment of it).
Gibbs' slow yet powerful VR offers audiences the space and time to reflect, and in a way that would be impossible in any other medium. From the perspective of the fledgling VR industry, the unique rhythm of her work has pushed the boundaries of VR and what it is considered to be capable of.
Natural Reality 2:1 was commissioned by Human Nature with the support of Abundance.
