This imaginative and playful love story follows the story of a young couple struggling to maintain a long distance relationship.
Suzuki (Shota Matsuda) falls instantly for Mayu (Atsuko Maeda) when they meet at university in late 80s Japan. However, when Suzuki is transferred to Tokyo the two are forced into a long distance relationship with its many complications - lack of communication and the attentions of a co-worker amongst them - and it eventually starts to take its toll. Is their first love worth saving?
With an intriguing, clever and totally unexpected twist that will make you want to immediately re-watch the film again, Initiation Love is a beautiful, nostalgic film to fall in love with.
