A dispute between neighbours spirals violently out of control in this dark and savage Icelandic suburban satire with bickering couples, mooning garden gnomes, disappearing pets... and a chainsaw.
When Baldvin (Sigurður Sigurjónsson) and Inga's (a hilarious performance Edda Björgvinsdóttir, a comedy legend in Iceland) neighbours complain that a tree in their garden cast a shadow over their sundeck, what starts off as a typical spat unexpectedly take takes a turn for the weird. As the standoff between the iron-willed couples intensifies, we learn more about their individual stories and the feud, and soon the unthinkable happens.
A wickedly funny and painfully astute film, it expertly balances both comedy (its deadpan humour is similar to another Icelandic hit, Rams) and tragedy - and we bet you won't look at a German Shepherd in the same way again...
