Stranger Than LOVE - Jim Jarmusch Double Bill
Please note : this season finished in Nov 2015
Think about Love on screen and what springs to mind? Romantic comedies, grand gestures, happily ever after? But what about films that take a more nuanced or alternative approach? The BFI Love season continues with a double-bill of films exploring alt love through the prism of one of America’s leading independent film directors: Jim Jarmusch.
Jarmusch's films have always broken away from the conventions of traditional Hollywood filmmaking, providing an alternative view of life, love and the small but meaningful ways that people can connect. For one night only we bring together two early gems from this cult icon of independent filmmaking - Mystery Train and Night on Earth – films that reveal the complexities of human relationships and affairs of the heart, and that capture adeptly the subtle moments between people that show that love can be about the smaller, the awkward and the unspoken. Come and revel in the awkwardness of first meetings, the odd couples and the strangeness of human interaction.
The night kicks off with Mystery Train, followed by Night on Earth. In the break, join your host - RISE RECORDS - for a night of wild rhythm n blues and rock n roll in the Café/Bar. Special dedications to lovers and strangers gracefully received.
In partnership with Rise Music.
Tickets: £9.00 full / £6.50 concessions / £4.50 aged 24 or under.
Special Offer: Buy a combo ticket for both films for £15.00 full / £10.00 concessions / £6.00 aged 24 or under.
