Homeground

The hunt for an artists’ studio.
Transcript
This is a story of resolve and commitment. It is a ‘less than 200 words’ story about a big idea.
It focuses on a group of artists, takes place in Henbury, Bristol and describes a journey of discovery, of learning, of ups and downs, of making a dream a reality.
The story is told in the style of a message written on a slightly-larger-than-normal postcard and is addressed to anyone and everyone who receives it, therefore it begins:
Dear all,
We are still looking at Homeground as a possible studio and gallery.
Last Tuesday week, all the artists, the trustees: Michele, Kate and Donna, Liz from Bristol City Council, Helen and Kate from the Arnolfini, Andy and I congregated there for another look round.
Elaine from Housing met us there to open up, luckily she brought a torch and we split into small groups to go round, in and out of pitch black rooms, upstairs and down, taking it in turns to hold the torch.
The premises have become even more dilapidated but we still have a vision of that first exhibition. Fingers crossed, eh?
Lots of good wishes and hopes for great happenings for us all in the year ahead,
Jane
