Volunteers and workers with Community Service Volunteers made stories about some of the work they do.
The workshop was led by Kate Barker, Aikaterini Gegisian and Paddy Uglow and was supported by Bristol’s Museums, Galleries & Archives.
Transcript
The old coach road from Wells to Bristol is a beautiful journey and feels like a great way to be travelling to CSV, to be a volunteer on their most recent Forest School project in Leigh Woods.
In to the woods we go, racing to meet around the tree.
Anthony shows us what we can use to make our woodland sculpture but hey – Shane has already been busy. That’s great. Carly wants to make one too, so Evie gives her a hand. That’s lovely, Carly.
“Here, look guys: you can make shelters by balancing this kind of wood together with a fork at the top.” says Anthony. “Can you find some?”
“But we want to saw wood!” “Here’s how to be safe then.” says Nick. “Like this?” says Lewis. “That’s right. Well done boys.”
“I missed that. Can you show me?” So Evie helps Sarah-Lee out and before long she has learned to saw wood. “Hooray!”
“The shelters are looking great guys. How about a break now?”
Lewis and Shawna help to make fire with Michelle. Then we all toast marshmallows; yum!
Hey look! Natania has woven some bark into a mat! Wow, it’s great!
Almost done. Just time to make clay wood guardians for the trees. Cool. I like your alien face, Jake.
Come on now everyone: off home again. And here we all are.
