Hello from Kingsfield School!
This is the first time we met as a group.
We watched some films from the Bristol Story archive to get some ideas.
Helen introduced herself by showing her Bristol Stories film:
“This was the road I lived in with my mum and dad, Caledonia Place in Clifton. It’s very near the suspension bridge. This is the same road 21 years later. Here we – this is number 9 Caledonia Place, one of my first homes in Bristol. We lived in the basement flat for most of the time that I can remember but we moved up to the first floor flat and this balcony was one of the places I took some of my first steps.”
On each film we did a review to find out how the films were made.
We answered some questions about what we like and don’t like about Bristol to start getting some ideas.
We worked in pairs to talk about our first ideas.
We learnt about storyboards and how they can help us, we practised by making a big storyboard for this film.
We set about planning a film about Kingsfield now and in the past; we thought about what we needed to research and where to look.
I gathered information and collected photos from my family. I asked my family for their permission to be in the film. We made our storyboard, putting the pictures in order.
We found these old photos of the school.
We picked out the photograph that interested us the most and we took a new version of each photo to make comparisons between now and then.
We also used this old book about the school and this is where we found out most of the facts of the film.
For part two of our film we interviewed the teachers, some came to Kingsfield as students!
We made a list of questions and arranged to meet the teachers for their interviews.
We also learnt about asking people’s permission to use them in our films, and we asked each teacher to sign a form.
We filmed our presenting and tried out different ways to choose our best. Finally I chose my music.
We had to collect all the photos and interviews before doing our storyboards.
We used our research to write scripts and we watched the interviews to find out the best bits to include in our films.
We had collected all of our resources, written our script and filmed our voiceovers. Finally we sent out the invitations to the screening of our films at the Watershed.
Thank you for watching our Kingsfield Bristol Stories!
