[the sound of footsteps on a street play throughout]
Just walking. It’s like coming to the surface – coming up from the depths. An odd time, half asleep, full of dreams. Slowly coming to.
Just walking. Seeing what’s going on around you.
A car goes past. Odd things catch my eyes: a dandelion growing through the concrete, leaves on the pavement, reflections on a car. Seeing things for the first time. Things I would not normally see.
Someone is leaving their house. I wonder if they see the same things? Have the same quiet thoughts? Just walking.
Someone shouts. I wonder what’s going on – what real-life drama is being carried out? A thriller? A tragedy?
I think about the day ahead, of the people I will be spending time with. The things we’ve done, the things we’re going to do.
Just walking, and thinking, and remembering.
Just walking.
