Ghosts is digital sculpture... it explores ideas of digital communication, the longevity of information and leaving ones mark on another's experience. Ghosts plays with the notion that textual discussions (web chat, MSN, SMS, email etc) are 'instant' and have no longer term existance. By creating prmanent sculptures out of these fragments of thought, throwaway ideas, abuse and casual communications, we give each message a new context and added purpose. As all visuals are built out of messages people leave, these messages form the basis for future users' experience. Ghosts was created as part of the 4th Clark Bursary, supported by J A Clark Charitable Trust, Watershed, PVA Medialab, University of the West of England, and Arts Council England South West. |
