Announcing an open call for a Studio Artist Residency
We’re delighted to announce an open call for a new Studio Artist Residency for 2014 - a fantastic opportunity for artists to explore ideas at the point where art, culture and technology meet.
This residency is suited to artists seeking time and space to think, share and make new work. Made possible with generous support from Arts Council England, the residency is for two months starting in September, based at Pervasive Media Studio it's open to all art forms.
The Studio Residencies offer dedicated time for artists to research, practice and play. At the completion of their residency in 2012, artist duo Juneau Projects said:
“We would wholeheartedly recommend the residency scheme to anybody. The Pervasive Media Studio is a great environment to be in and is a perfect opportunity to look both at a specific question but also at your practice as a whole.”
For inspiration, you can read the full report on Juneau Projects' experience here.
This is an excellent opportunity to be fully immersed in development of a project idea, whilst becoming part of the inspirational network of practitioners associated with the Pervasive Media Studio. Artists can apply as individuals or groups, and will receive a bursary, a facilitated programme produced by Watershed, plus budget to support travel, relocation and production.
Victoria Tillotson, Producer at Watershed says:
“We’re incredibly excited to launch this open call for Watershed’s Studio Artist Residencies. It’s rare for residencies to offer time, space, conceptual and technical support to experiment with ideas, combined with the chance to become part of a fantastic community of practitioners. We’re delighted to extend this invitation, and can’t wait to see what emerges.”
