Lunchtime Talk: Introducing Juneau Projects, Timothy X Atack & MrUnderwood
Friday 21 September, 1-2pm, at Pervasive Media Studio
Join us at Pervasive Media Studio for a special Lunchtime Talk, in which the recipients of our Studio Residencies will introduce their projects:
During their time in Bristol, artists Ben Sadler and Phil Duckworth of Juneau Projects plan to research various Artificial Intelligence entities and discover ways of using their aesthetic suggestions to help create sculptural artwork. Represented by London’s Ceri Hand Gallery, Juneau Projects' groundbreaking work involves the use of sculpture, sound, music, projection, animation and installation, to examine ideas of technology, nature and possible future scenarios. For this talk, they will share some recent projects and their ideas for collaborating with ‘thinking’ machines.
The talk will also introduce a new collaboration between writer, performer and composer Timothy X Atack and musician, sound artist and instrument designer MrUnderwood. Drawing on MrUnderwood’s expertise in extending user interfaces and Tim’s background in narrative design, the duo will discuss plans to collaboratively develop Sonic Graffiti (a narrative soundscape played through small interactive devices secreted in the urban environment), and their shared interest in how audio can enhance a sense of place, by using inspirations lifted directly from a person’s location.
Join us for this talk and follow the artists’ progress online as the residencies unfold through October – December 2012.
Lunchtime Talks are free to attend, no booking required, just turn up.
This talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.
