He’s so funny that Laurence Clark and his Inspired show last night at the Millennium Centre, Cardiff as part of the fabulous Hijinx Unity Festival programme took his unique combination of wry sardonic humour to the parts that other comedians fail to reach.
Not only that, there were several threads of narrative within this very new work that were strangely moving as Laurence took us on a roller coaster ride, exploring the daft notion that disabled people are deemed inspirational for doing the most mundane of things. The usual mix of hidden film footage and some stunning visual gags gave us insight into the workings of his comedic brain.
PUSH ME spent the day shooting Laurence’s second film for The Space at this mid way through his Unlimited commission and this time we got so much more insight into how he works his material and a clarity around the importance of the Bloomsbury Theatre platform on the 7th September as part of the Unlimited Festival. Laurence is a comedian and this year is but part of the trajectory.
Working up close with this artist makes us want to push him forward in his endeavours, which is what we’re all about; not because he’s inspirational but because he’s very very funny. For tour dates and more information www.laurenceclark.co.uk
