We were delighted to catch up with Laurence Clark just before he delivers his final preview of Inspired tonight at the Brockjack Theatre in South East London. His close to the bone rollercoaster ride with video film and slides is delighting everyone who sees it. It is inspired but not in the way you might think.
When we filmed Laurence in Cardiff at the Hijinx Unity Festival, Laurence was only a few shows in and still honing his material. We asked him what the funniest sections were proving to be with people so far. ‘It’s definitely the Paralympic wheelchair hurdles race’, he told us.
Unknown to many but to many more now, Laurence employs the gadgetry of taping his shows to guage what elements his respective audiences find the most amusing and adjusting the show accordingly – a modern day spin on the laughometer no less. Not rocket science but very effective all the same.
The show also contains some particularly amusing sidesplitting stunts with straws and bungee!
We ask Laurence if he’s going to be staging any comedic stunts to promote the show his Unlimited Festival gig at The Bloomsbury Theatre on September 7th. He replies that his ‘jumping days’ are over and that he’ll be relying on publicity. So why don’t you push Laurence to the upper tiers of comedic platformery?
You’d be a fool not to.
