We were delighted to see Rachel Gadsden’s second 90 second film up in The Space following the success of her body mapping workshop yesterday in the Clore Ballroom as part of the Unlimited Festival workshop programme.
Rachel’s Bambanani collaborators Nondumiso Hlwele, Bongiwe Mba and Thobani Ncapai ran the workshop alongside her exploring how our individual life experiences are stored in the body: thinking which sits right at the heart of Unlimited Global Alchemy. As Rachel explained
Body Mapping offers a creative tool to use your body as a barometer of life’s journeys. Just look at what is revealed!
Participants described the process as tranquil and revealing against the soothing backdrop of Sue Austin in underwater transit along the back wall of the ballroom space.
Our PUSH ME team will be shooting Rachel’s performance in the Purcell Room at 7.30pm tomorrow where her final piece as part of her Unlimited Commission will be revealed. Co-directed by Rachel herself with choreographer Athina Vahla, it will feature performers Freddie Opoku-Addaie and Dr Sarah Chin with Rachel creating live visuals on stage with sound by Chas de Sweit and Paul Gundry and design by Mamoru Iriguchi and Michael Mannion.
