Why You Should Be Watching ‘Adventure Time’

Molly watched the first series of ‘Adventure Time’ on Netflix and feels like you should too. It’s not just for kids. Well it is. But that’s a good thing.

‘Adventure Time’ is a cartoon created for Cartoon Network. It first aired in 2010 and has grown massively popular to a wider audience. The cartoon takes place in the fantasy land of ‘Ooo’ in which best friends Finn the human and Jake the dog take on a new adventure in every 11-minute episode.

Every character is unique as well as each episode, which is what I love about ‘Adventure Time’. The colourful settings and vibrant story lines are open for any age to enjoy as the show is very well made to engage more than one audience. The first series of ‘Adventure Time’ is available on Netflix and various episodes are aired onto Cartoon Network so there’s no excuse for not watching it!

Although the series is always found under Children’s sections, it’s not just for children. This trippy animation contains many adult jokes and innuendoes. I can’t tell you them on here but you can watch and find out for yourself.

Overall, ‘Adventure Time’ is a pretty crazy cartoon that both humorous and fun for everyone. Here is a handy guide to all the main characters of ‘Adventure Time’.

Jake The Dog and Finn The Human

Finn is a 16-year-old boy who was found and adopted by Jake the Dog’s family when he was a baby. Since, they have been best friends and partners in solving crime, from rescuing the Princesses of Ooo to experimenting with their own imaginations these guys are inseparable. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Jake the dog also has awesome magic powers that allow the duo to have the most wild adventures.

Princess Bubblegum

Princess Bubblegum is not your typical damsel in distress. Although she always turns to Finn to help solve her troubles, she is a very intelligent yet bossy princess in the Candy Kingdom. Princess Bubblegum is a scientist which is possibly one of the many reasons why Finn appears to have a crush on her. She is also one of many princesses who are risk of being kidnapped by the Ice King. Some of the other princesses include Lady Rainicorn, a Korean rainbow unicorn who is Princess Bubblegum’s best friend and Jake the dog’s girlfriend and Lumpy Space Princess, a sassy teenaged purple cloud of lump who reappears in many episodes of ‘Adventure Time’.

Ice King

The Ice King is the main villain of the first series of ‘Adventure Time’. His evil plots to kidnap princesses to marry them are always intervened by Finn and Jake as the Ice King is so villainous that no princess wishes to marry him, ever. Underneath the evil of the Ice King is a confused character that just wants to know how to have fun and make friends but always ruins it for himself.

BMO/Beemo is Jake and Finn’s video game console that is multifunctional. Apart from allowing Jake and Finn to play video games, BMO plays music, acts as a camera, is a toaster and a strobe light, can be a footballer or a chef, and many more things. BMO acts as Jake and Finn’s roommate and is very protective and Jake and Finn.

Marceline The Vampire Queen

Marceline the Vampire Queen is by far the coolest character of the show. She presents herself as the most scariest vampire you’ll meet by giving threats left, right and centre but really she is a bit of a joker. When angry or sad, Marceline appears to whack out her bass guitar in which she is ace at. She is also half demon which contributes to her overall dark tones.

So, I hope this is enough to make you check out ‘Adventure Time’ as it is a completely awesome show that I’m so glad I have watched and enjoyed.
