Pick of the Week: Emerging Artists’ Exhibition
Find out what’s on Rife Guide this week, including an exhibition showcasing work from Bristol’s young visual artists.
Let’s face it; it’s that time of year…
Let’s face it; it’s that time of year. Whether we are as merry as Santa’s little elves or feeling bah humbug like Scrooge, Christmas is well and truly around the corner. But that does not mean that we have to eat sleep and breathe Christmas. Here at Rife, we are offering some winter warming, indoor and alternative free fun.
Why not come along and experience this year’s Open Call Exhibition, a showcase of brilliant work from young and emerging visual artists. There are three locations throughout Bristol that you can drop in, The RWA, The Island and The Station. Why not try and make them all?
The aim is to provide young emerging artists aged 16 – 25 the opportunity to exhibit their work in city centre galleries. The Exhibition is open to all visual artists… and we mean all. You could be practicing in installation, painting, printmaking, film, sound, performance, illustration, digital arts and sculpture. Come and witness the wonderful work, and if you’re feeling inspired then why not submit work next year? It could be yours on display.
You can just turn up to the Open Exhibition, you don’t need to book in advance and it’s totally free. The exhibition is on now till the 2nd of January and is happening in three separate and vibrant spaces around the city. If you’re feeling up to it, they all offer a load more things to discover. The Station is home to Creative Youth Network; The Island offers artists space and support and The RWA showcases a range of national and international art. Full details of the exhibition can be found here, on the Rife Guide.
Are you planning on visiting Bristol Open Exhibition, or do you have artwork in it? We want to know! Or just tell us what else you’ve been up to in the Christmas break by tagging us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
