DOCUMENTARY: Crisis And Hope [episode 2]
Watch part 2 of Crisis and Hope, Owain Astles’ searing documentary about homelessness in Bristol and why we need to pay attention.
Coming to Bristol, I learnt so much about the extent of homelessness in the UK…
Coming to Bristol, I learnt so much about the extent of homelessness in the UK, but also the kindness of many people that are out there. With this two-part documentary, I wanted to focus on the people that are out there doing good. Bristol, whilst having higher rates of homelessness than anywhere outside London, also has more kind-hearted people than many other cities, and this is what I wanted to focus on. After visiting Spring of Hope, we visited the Wild Goose Café, a drop-in café that offers cheap or free food to the homeless, and those that can’t afford to feed themselves. In the film, we look at what they do and also just why so many people are in need of places like these.
Thanks to Jonnie Angel, the whole Wild Goose team, Cllr Paul Smith, and everyone at Crisis Centre Ministeries.
