Rife wants your photography
We’re commissioning young black creatives’ photography. Read how to send in your ideas
At Rife, we want to elevate and nurture work from black creatives by highlighting, supporting and celebrating their work. The first part of our continuing pledge to support black talent is this series of photography commissions for young black creatives.
If you are a Bristol-based black photographer who is 30 years old or under, we want to showcase your photos and the way you see the world.
We would like you to submit photography that tells a story. This might be through portraits, fashion, food or something experimental.
The subjects of the photos and techniques you use are up to you. In return for your work, you will receive £150 per commission, mentoring, editorial support, and peer networking.
You can send in ideas for a brand new series or send in work you’ve already completed but hasn’t been featured elsewhere.
To write to us about a new idea please include the subject matter (like, ‘photos of my friends’), genre (like portraits), theme (like friendship), and why you’re interested in exploring this theme. You can also talk about your use of colour, composition, techniques and show us your references if you think it would be helpful.
If you are chosen to produce one of the four commissions, you’ll create eight to ten shots that will appear on our Rife website.
Send your ideas and/or examples of your work to bex.r@watershed.co.uk by 1st September. We will reply to every submission.
