Light Up Bristol
In December 2007 Bristol’s city centre underwent a magical transformation as a group of leading designers, artists and filmmakers joined together to create Light Up Bristol, a spectacular light and moving image show. Using some of the world’s most powerful projectors the Council House and Bristol Cathedral were turned into massive canvasses as the whole area was transformed into a Winter Wonderland. This short film by AntiVJ captures the fantastic visuals on show.
Light Up Bristol was a fantastic opportunity to get some of the most creative and innovative people from across the South West working on a large scale project and for it to be instigated, developed, managed and coordinated by the creative and media sectors themselves.
Following a smaller event in December 2006, in which only still images were projected Bristol Media - the city’s creative networking and support organisation - joined forces with the West of England Design Forum to make the event bigger and better. Projecting 400ft wide moving image, animation, colour and textures alongside spectacular lights and a nightly snow fall, Light Up Bristol was a unique event enjoyed by thousands of people.
