An 11-year-old boy becomes an unlikely superhero when he discovers that he has the ability to leave his body and fly through walls in this marvellous animated adventure from the creators of A Cat in Paris.

Hospitalised with a serious illness, 11-year-old Leo discovers that he has an incredible superpower - the ability to leave his body and fly around the city, passing through walls just like a phantom. Alex is a police officer, recuperating after being injured by a mysterious gangster whilst tailing him during an investigation. So when they find out the mob kingpin has designs to disrupt New York City’s power supply and exploit it for his own ends, Leo partners up with Alex and Mary, a fearless reporter, and races against time to solve the case and save the city.

In an era of CG blockbusters this is a reminder of the intimate pleasures of hand drawn animation that, with its nods to film noir, graphic novels, Picasso, Hergé’s Tintin and the abstract cityscapes of Jacques Tati, has a certain throwback charm. A superhero film with a difference, Phantom Boy is innovative, funny and surprisingly moving.

Please note: All screenings of Phantom Boy will be Dubbed.
