part of Bristol UNESCO City of Film

Event

Please note: This event took place in July 2018

Interested in film, celluloid, and the machines and techniques used to project, print, and shoot it? Everyone with a curiosity about the art of film is invited to this tour of G.Hogg's Bedminster Studio.

G.Hogg is the founder of the Cube Cinema in Bristol and has a studio practice that involves working with analogue film shooting, developing, printing and projecting. He looks after a growing collection of cinema apparatus and odd bits of film, and is currently restoring a 1930s contact printer and an optical printer (both machines rarely seen by the public).

His MRes (UWE) is looking at analogue film artefacts in digital archives, the use of film as a technology of memory and the history and uses of found footage.

This tour is about 1.5 hours long and starts with a 20 min walk to the Studio from Watershed around the floating harbour and River Avon. There are 6 places on each tour.

Access Information - Wheelchair access is possible but we'd need to know in advance.
