Bristol UNESCO City of Film
Cinema Rediscovered 2018
Please note : this season finished in July 2018
The third edition of Cinema Rediscovered celebrates Bristol's new status as UNESCO City of Film, a global recognition of the city's outstanding contribution to film culture. We'll put the spotlight on Bristol born screenwriter, film director, playwright and novelist Mike Hodges with screenings of two of his iconic films: Get Carter (Sat 28 July at 17:40) and the underrated caper Pulp (Fri 27 July at 11:10), which will both followed by a live Q&A with the filmmaker.
Key locations for film in the city will be brought to life as Dr Peter Walsh (South West Silents) takes visitors on an animated walking tour (on Fri 27 and Sat 28 July) around the town centre, revealing a rich history and plentiful hidden treasures among Bristol’s cine-streets and iconic locales.
We will also be hosting tours (on Sat 28 and Sun 29 July) of G.Hogg's (the founder of the Cube) Bedminster Studio, where he works with analogue film.
