Shallow Grave meets Fargo in director Sam Raimi's exploration of the corrupting influence of greed. When two brothers and a friend stumble on a fortune in unmarked small dollar bills in the wreckage of a plane and decide to squirrel it away for themselves, the strain of keeping the cache secret takes its toll as guilt, paranoia and greed change their relationship for ever.
Our Cinema Curator Mark Cosgrove explains why he's picked A Simple Plan:
"This excellent small-town American thriller from Sam Raimi was a real rediscovery for me made between his cult debut Evil Dead and Spiderman franchise reboot. It is very much a companion piece to the Coen Bros’ Fargo which makes sense given how closely Raimi and the Coens collaborated in their early days: Joel edited Evil Dead, they all made Crimewave."
