Adapted from Dolores Hitchens' novel Fools Gold, Jean-Luc Godard playful tribute to Hollywood crime capers sees two hapless criminals band together with a young student to plan a robbery.
Franz and Arthur (Sami Frey and Claude Brasseur) have no money, no jobs, nor prospects, but they do have a black convertible and a shared romantic interest in Odile (Anna Karina). When Odile lets slip that a stash of cash is ineptly hidden in the isolated villa where she lives, the men hatch a plan to take it for themselves.
Shot in just 25 days, Bande à Part was greeted with puzzlement and even distaste when it was first released in 1964. Over the years it has become a firm favourite of New Wave Film lovers and is one that no one with a taste for les films français should avoid watching.
