The way in which we use information about our cities is about to undergo a fundamental change. Digital platforms are increasingly becoming the dominant business model for the delivery of key services in cities; and how citizens use Uber, AirBnB, Deliveroo and CityMapper is also having an impact on how our cities function. In addition, we are seeing the big technology companies increasing their presence, with Amazon Echo and Apple HomePod linking our physical and digital worlds, and Google and Facebook taking early steps to becoming housing developers.
This session will explore some of these trends and how the concept of city information models can begin to tie together some of the disparate developments in technology, city planning and management.
