The New Statesman have blogged on how the police are thinking of using Bluetooth. The idea is to Bluetooth gop people close to a current crime scene. The idea being that Bluetooth's short range will only send the 'crime advice video' to those in proximity.
An issue that's arisen is, will people just believe what they're recieving is SPAM and ignore it, making it worthless?
For the technology to work properly in real life, there will have to be some signal that allows people to expect a crime scene video, some sort of Pervasive Relations. If they're hearing the sirens, it might lead people to expect a crime scene video, but if they're hearing them anyway, surely they know there's a crime scene…
Thought Pie can't solve their problems (unless of course they email us!) but, the argument has bought up a good point, we don't have to rely fully on Visual communications to spread Bluetooth packages. We could be using Duncan Speakman (who's in the studio) to produce a few related audio blasts for people to start associating with Bluetooth like,
- Videos - the 20th century fox intro
- Pictures - a camera shutter sound
- Police videos - a siren
- Events - A bugle
