Company Profile

Thought Den are a Bristol-based digital design and build agency. They create addictive games, rich websites and utilise new technology. Thought Den have worked on a range of products for brands such as Jack Daniels, JVC and DEFRA.

Mobile Pie is a boutique, Bristol based studio producing innovative entertainment and imaginative games for mobile platforms. The company have won Channel 4’s New Mobile Game Developer of the Year and the Media Innovation Awards’ Trophy 2008.

Happy Packages

Happy Packages was a system where friends could leave digital content or ‘packages’ (images, audio, text) at specific locations that could be later collected from those locations, using a mobile device (via SMS, Bluetooth or GPS).

Mobile Pie & Thought Den were inspired by the exponential enthusiasm for communicating and sharing online. With the explosion of content, distribution channels that provided relevance and context were becoming ever more important. Happy Packages offered the ability to control content in a personal way. For example a trail of ‘packages’ could form a trip to the five best shoe shops specifically for your sister.

Field Research part two

As a follow up to the gopping exercise of Wednesday the 28th, we decided to take a more direct approach and quiz our target audience in an attempt to uncover the ways we're likely to use our phones in the future. It wasn't a task for the lighthearted and a certain amount of the truth serum was required to get to the 'good stuff' but after a long hard night of dedicated field research we can confidently report that female physiotherapists don't know how to use mobile phones.

Happy Packages Identity

Happy Packages - we put some virtual/digital boxes of happiness round the city and by various means, users can access the contents of the happy package, releasing anything from an SMS riddle to a Java game sent from our Bluetooth transmitters. WHAT WE NEED! Sketches / doodles / concepts for a brand/logo based on the Happy Package concept, so a box of love, man. Ideally it’d be stencillable…A 3D box with ribbon? We’re thinking simple design, just a box or something, with minimal detail. no more than 3 colours, pref 2.
