Company Profile

Nomos Media is a Bristol-based web agency specialising in design and development of online technologies. They've completed a range of successful work for clients such as the BBC, including the Doctor Who Website, BBC Green eBay ads and the BBC green interactive car chooser.

Radio in Schools is an independent, not for profit organisation. It offers a safe podcasting platform to allow schools, children and a new generation of listeners to get their voice heard. Users can create content online through a Virtual Studio and share it via the web.

AudioEnable

Nomos Media and Radio in Schools explored how developments in pervasive media could enable users to easily record and distribute audio using a mobile device.

AudioEnable was a service already in development by Nomos Media. It enabled users to capture audio directly to their website from an embedded media player. Media Sandbox supported development of AudioEnable for the mobile platform. This significantly extended the service, allowing users to podcast from any location without the need for specific technical knowledge or expensive equipment. Radio in Schools tested the mobile service, giving pupils and teachers the freedom to podcast from the classroom, staff room and off-site trips.

National Education Show 2009

Nomos recently accompanied Radio in Schools to the National Education Show at the NEC in Birmingham. We were there to provide technical support, but also to turn on the charm and help promote the software to some of the 30,000 or so teachers and industry representatives that rocked up for 3-day event.

A quick update...

A quick update :- Wireframes are in, designs are almost done, and we're about a day away from having the raw functionality (ugly, but working) up and running on our test device - a lovely little HTC touchscreen. We're hoping to be in the first phase of testing late(ish) next week…. After that, its on with the UI - which is probably going to be the trickier part of the development process. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Thats it for now. Short and Sweet…

Introduction to AudioEnable

Software as a Service is one of the fastest growing areas of the IT industry. The percentage of consumers using SaaS doubled in 2008 from the previous year. Which is good news for us, really. Nomos Media was approached by Radio in Schools in 2007 to design and develop a Website and underlying platform to enable students and teachers to record, edit and distribute podcasts using simple, software-free tools.
