Fellow Media Sandboxers Overlay Media have just done a brilliant blog post with pictures of themselves in kung fu and thoughtful (or confused?) poses, so following the leader I'd like to introduce you to our own (pixelated and less rockstar) mugs.

There's a two man core team working on Blossom Bristol, which is myself (left) and Rich (right). I handle the creative yin and Richard is the technical yang. We also have the ethereal artistic forces of Wings Art on our side.

Ground has been broken on the project, with the first few hundred (thousand?) lines of code tippy-tapped out, whilst the clickitty-clack of the mouse has created us some layouts for the app.

The above shows the home page you'll see by default when you load the app. At the top of the page you'll see a range of navigation buttons that take you deeper in to information on your current location, scores and leader boards, settings and help. Below that is your name and your current money. Money in Blossom Bristol works like a score. The more you have the higher you'll be ranked. It costs money to plant a seed at a location, but it's made when you harvest and sale a crop.

Below that is the location section. This shows the name of the area you're in (e.g. Clifton or Knowle) as well as the more specific GPS latitude and longitude data. This is joined by live data for the area on a scale of 1-10 (1 being bad and 10 being good). It's this data which the success or failure of a crop in an area is dependent on. You can tap to plant at your current location or to find out more information.

The final section of this page is the current crops. It displays the crops you have planted and if they have succeed or failed. If the crop has succeeded then users have the option to harvest, which they can then sale. If the crop has failed it can be composted, which will help other user succeed on the same spot.

And there it is, the first roots and shoots of Blossom Bristol. We'll be going deeper in to the gameplay as we get further down the line and look forward to sharing some moving pictures soon.
